Walter CHILD was the son of Francis CHILD born in 1817 at Hullavington,Wiltshire, England and died 25 December 1890 at Monmouthshire, Wales and Mary Ann CHILD (nee CLARKE) born 1820 at Dauntsey Wiltshire and died 18 October 1901.

On 29 June 1876 at Wilmslow, Cheshire, Walter married Catherine Howell CHILD and had one child.
After Catherine's death on 7 September 1892, Walter remarried in 1898 to Rosa KENNY.
