In the 1841 Census Martha can be found living with her parents, John & Eliza Bate at Tattenhall, Cheshire, the children are listed as William, Elizabeth, Martha, Eliza, John & Harriet.

On 25 August 1846, Martha's mother Eliza BATE was buried Bunbury, Cheshire.

12 October 1848 in the parish of Hope in the county of Flint there is a marriage recorded for Martha BATE and John FORD.
Martha & John's Marriage entry states
John Ford , Full age, Bachelor, Farmer, of Wilmslow, Mount Farm father Joseph Ford, Farmer,and
Matha Bate, Full age, Spinster father John Bate, Farmer, were married in the parish church by licence by J.? Lloyd, Vicar
